I had been working towards a promising corporate career and finally landed my first 'adult' job. I had the desk, suit, and motivation to match. Little did I know, my heath challenges would take center stage, making it impossible to move forward in my life and career....
I was experiencing lingering chronic illness from childhood (IBS, Acid Reflux, Hypothyroidism, Chronic Migraines, Cystic Acne, Hypoglycemia, Anxiety Attacks, and several unexplained fainting spells). I was in pain, overwhelmed, and deeply distrusted my mind and body. I spent several years seeing doctors (Allopathic and Naturopathic), trying medications and supplements, experimenting with various diets, and going to therapy because all I wanted was for life to be easier and for my mind and body to feel better.
While I did find some relief using meds, supplements and therapy, I never felt like I was fully well. When one set of symptoms disappeared, another came knocking.
It took me a while to understand the inability to feel as if I was really making progress came from 2 things; not making the foundational wellness changes beneath all of the pills and specialists, and not making those foundational changes in a way that was unique to me.
Once I began to use daily foundational practices (tailored specifically to my preferences, schedule, body), to better regulate my nervous system, cortisol levels, and lower inflammation... and once I learned to really trust my gut to guide me in all choices (both in health and beyond), I was able to better digest my food and life experiences... and finally I felt like I was making forward progress.
My skin cleared, I no longer had IBS symptoms, or migraines. I wasn't having debilitating anxiety attacks, and I was able to think more clearly, better regulate my emotions, have capacity for others, and have more energy to do things I enjoyed. I came off of several medications... and for the first time I felt truly empowered and free.
I don't believe in getting well by restricting, feeling guilty or shameful. Genuine wellness is reached through feeling free and empowered, which is cultivated through a process of observing and choosing new thought patterns.
Exercise is a necessary part of the mental and physical wellness puzzle. Unfortunately, most of us exercise in ways that cause the body to absorb a disproportionate amount of stress relative to its intended benefit.
Autophagy is the cellular "clean up" the body undergoes every night in order to naturally detox. This is critical in order to be resilient to the mental and physical stressors of daily life.
I teach principles that work to support gut health, while improving blood sugar balance and cortisol regulation, and inflammation simultaneously.
There are 4 foundational categories of our lives which affect our ability to feel good, regardless of the symptoms we have or the conditions we struggle with:

While there are nuanced ways these 4 categories affect each of us differently, it is unanimous that they are intimately connected. This means when we make changes to one category, the other categories feel the ripple effects. Unfortunately, we're not taught to master multidisciplinary change at a foundational level when the surface of our lives (work, school, family, etc.) are moving so quickly. It's for this reason, that healthy, life changing habits don't stick, and we revert back to the quick fix, or resign to living in a body that doesn't feel good.
Many of us try to make too many changes at once, or mimic the practices of others without tuning into our own unique needs. This is a fast track to more exhaustion, burnout and depletion.
It's for that reason, my work involves addressing these foundational categories in ways that are bio-individual to each person, resulting in true, unshakable, liberated and empowered wellness.
